Tombstone Tuesday: Family Konnections- Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery

I walked the cemetery of Shiloh Baptist Church, in Port Royal Virginia with family that I met.  There was a memorial plaque placed in the church cemetery.  As noted on the plaque, "In memory of those buried in the old section of Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery."

This was my first visit to the family cemetery.  Several of the family names listed on this plaque  are related to me. Their date of births are as early as 1862, one being my great grandmother Sarah Ann Baylor.

Some of the headstones you couldn't read.  You wonder who is the person buried, how old is the headstone.  Through research, I now see the connections of some of the families listed on this plaque.

Simply Stated - Happy B'D Sonny

We acknowledge this day, Feburary 15th Sonny's Birthday. We think about Sonny throughout the years. The conversations we had, his smile, love for music and his kind and caring ways.

We called Sonny our family chef. Known for his mouth watering macaroni and cheese, and cheesecakes just to name a few.

"Chef Sonny", you are truly missed by all. We love you!!

Wordless Wednesday: Who's That Lady

Going through some old photos I found this one. It has me puzzled....the writing on the back has faded. I have taken on the challenge of restoring the text on the photo. Who is that lady, and what is her message.
